I am d/ling at an average of like 2.25 KB/s compared to what is usually about 45-50. What is the deal? They dont seem to be very stable either.

Thanks

We are making some changes that we hoped would not incur instability:
* we are shifting from tar files on freecache to zip, and
* we have made freecache the dominant system for the movies
* there was an outage at 4pm PST that was caused by routing configuration problems.

all in all, we hoped these would not incur real problems.

if you articulate the problem (what file, and what download system) we might give a more particular answer.

Hopefully this is fixed now. We were not hitting our rate limit. Also, someone recently posted getting 239k/s from a freecache.

Can you please email me the instructions for using Freecache? Please include everything that I need to have installed, need to use to convert the files, etc. That would be great.

Thanks

to be a user of freecache, you just click on the link. it has

http://freecache.org in front of it. it will redirect your browser automatically to a cache or the original location depending.

the etree concerts are now being served in zip format, so you need to download winzip on a windows box. OS-x's stuffit handles these files automatically. there are packages on linux for dealing with zip, but I dont know what they are.

I am having some trouble with etree06, but other than that I am getting great speeds using Freecache. It is much easier than dealing with multiple files via FTP

Sure.

Install WinZip. Double click the zip file in Windows Explorer. Click the "extract" button in WinZip. Select where you want the SHN or FLAC files to go.

You're done.

demoware winzip is:
http://download.com.com/3000-2250-10161502.html

zip files are common compression formats for pc's, but it does not come bundled with the pc, but does with mac.
